Lot 506

1810 S-285 R2 PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Frosty bluish steel and light olive with traces of red showing in protected areas on both sides. The luster is a bit subdued by a very thin layer of natural oxidation and it appears this cent has never been brushed or rubbed in any way. The best identifying marks, and they are barely visible, are a small puff of slightly darker toning off the lower left point of star 10, a speck of darker toning just SW of the ear lobe, and a tiny nick on the rim over the left side of the E in AMERICA. MDS, Breen state II, with a few fine die cracks on the obverse and a fine die crack up the right edge of the M in AMERICA to the dentils above. A nice cent. Our grade is AU58+, very close to mint state (and perhaps at a mint state level if the luster was exposed). The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Pop 2; none finer at PCGS for the variety. Estimate Value $15,000 - UP

Realized $18,800
