Lot 498

1803 S-262 R3 Small Date & Fraction PCGS graded XF45. Slightly glossy olive brown and chocolate with lighter steel brown toning on the devices. The surfaces are nice but a glass reveals microscopic traces of roughness around the fraction and TAT in STATES. The only notable mark is a nick on the right side of the Y in LIBERTY. EDS, Breen state II, with the usual die line slanting from the bust into the field before the neck while the reverse is uncracked. A new example of the variety, not seen by Noyes or Bland. Our grade is VF30, tied for CC#2 of the die variety. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Pop 1; 2 finer, 1 in 53, 1 in 55. Estimate Value $4,000 - UP
