1798 S-177 R4+ Small 8, Style II Hair VF20+. Sharpness VF35 but covered with microscopic roughness on all but the highpoints, which are smooth. The only notable marks are a small, shallow pit on the cheek and four more in the field before the end of the nose. Dark steel and olive brown. The obverse is rather glossy while the reverse is closer to matte. LDS, Breen state V, with fine die rust on the lower part of the obverse in addition to the earlier die cracks. Called VF25 and tied for CC#2 in the Bland census. Noyes says VF35 net VF20 and CC#5, his photo #22949.2. Comes with a great provenance. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP
