Lot 448

1796 S-107 R5 Draped Bust, Reverse of 1794 VG7. Slightly sharper but covered with extremely faint granularity under slightly glossy olive brown toning. No verdigris, and the only notable marks are a few old, light scratches in the top of the wreath and a few more through CENT (all blended into the natural toning so they do not catch your eye). EDS, Breen state I, with an uncracked obverse die. The bottom of the obverse and top of the reverse are softly struck while everything else is nicely impressed. The die line that slants up through the top of the R in LIBERTY is clear. The date is easily readable in spite of the soft strike at the bottom of the numerals. A newly discovered piece that falls at the lower end of the condition census. Estimate Value $600 - UP
Ex Paula Redding.
