Lot 442

1795 S-76b R1 Plain Edge ANACS graded AU50 Details, Polished. Glossy medium brown with splashes of olive brown toning on the reverse. The surfaces appear smooth to the unaided eye but a glass reveals this piece was lightly burnished to minimize fine roughness that covers most of the planchet. No verdigris. The only marks are myriad light scratches or scrape marks in the field behind the portrait. EDS, Breen state III, before any swelling in the field before the portrait. The date and legends are all strong. A curved planchet clip affects the dentils before the face and the opposing ones over MER, as struck. Our grade is EF40 sharpness net VF20. The attribution and clipped planchet error are noted on the ANACS label. Estimate Value $1,000 - UP

Realized $999
