Lot 436

1794 S-48 R5 Starred Reverse PCGS Genuine, VG Details, Environmental Damage. Dull dark steel and olive brown with traces of very shallow greenish verdigris in protected areas. Looks like a cent that was lost in soil for a while and it appears to have never been brushed or "improved" in any way. The date and at least half of the legends are readable, but they have been weakened by the corrosion. Many of the tiny stars are still visible, strongest over UNITED. MDS with the usual weakness on the right side of the reverse. Far from perfect, but it's a genuine example with a readable date and some visible stars. Our grade is VG8 sharpness net Fair-2. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Estimate Value $6,000 - UP
