Lot 422

1856 Restrike Breen 1-C R4 PCGS graded PR64 Brown. Reverse of 1856. Attractive gunmetal blue and steel mixed with lighter brown faded down from mint color. Generous traces of faded mint color show on the obverse while at least a third of the reverse retains faded rosy mint red. Nearly flawless with excellent eye appeal. The only marks, and they are barely visible with a glass, are a tiny tick hidden at the base of a dentil at star 13 and a small spot of slightly lighter toning off the upper left point of star 2. The fields on both sides are nicely reflective but the mirrors are not especially deep. Our grade is Proof-63. PCGS population 1; 1 finer in 65 (the Missouri Cabinet example we sold as lot 224 in our 1/26/2014 sale). Estimate Value $4,000 - UP

Realized $4,700
