Lot 320

1829 N-3 R3 Medium Letters PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Beautiful uniform lustrous medium brown and light chocolate. No spots, stains, or contact marks, just a light touch of rub on the highest points of the devices. This cent is flawless except for the usual weak strike on the stars, along the top of the head, at the curl over the date, and along the lower part of the wreath. Late die state. The fields are flowlined and all 3 of the A's in the reverse legend are filled. Called AU55 and finest known by 10 points in the Noyes census, his photo #21036. Bland also says AU55 and CC#1. Our grade is AU55 as well. By any measure this is a great example of the variety, and it comes with an important provenance. The attribution and Naftzger-Heard provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; the only MS BN of the variety at PCGS and the finest MS BN of the variety at both services. PCGS #36928. Estimate Value $5,000 - UP
