Sale 98

Lot 258

1798 S-172 R2 Style II Hair, Small 8 PCGS graded VF35. Rather glossy olive brown and steel. The surfaces are smooth but there are microscopic traces of reddish scale around the date and lower part of the obverse with similar crud around TES OF. Just a few trivial marks, including a faint diagonal scratch through the middle of the ear and a few ticks at the junction of the neck and bust. This cent offers nice eye appeal in spite of the minor defects. Scarce LDS, Breen state VI, with a cud break at ICA in AMERICA. Our grade is VF25+. The attribution and Heard provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3 graded VF; 6 finer for the variety. PCGS #36086. Estimate Value $1,000 - UP
Ex Ed Satter-Shawn Yancey 5/10/2011-Gene Heard Collection.

Realized $1,645
