Lot 237

1793 S-13 R4- Liberty Cap PCGS graded G6. Mostly glossy dark olive brown and chocolate. The surfaces are decent but not perfectly smooth with a combination of microscopic roughness and tiny nicks under the glossy patina. No verdigris, and the only notable marks are a dull rim nick over ME in AMERICA and a pair of nicks at the top of the I in UNITED. The date and legends are complete and easily readable. LDS, Breen state II, with a subtle bulge at CEN that causes the EN to be weak. Not perfect but quite acceptable for a lower-grade 1793 Liberty Cap cent. Our grade is net G5+, close to the PCGS grade of G6. The attribution and Heard provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS #35489. Estimate Value $6,000 - UP
Ex Stack's 5/21/2008:1055-Gene Heard Collection (lot ticket included).

Realized $11,750
