Lot 666

1794 S-36 R5 VG10. Sharpness VF25 but covered with uniform very fine roughness under glossy dark chocolate brown and olive toning. The highpoints are a lighter shade of steel brown. No verdigris and just a few trivial marks. The only notable marks are light diagonal nick in the field under the end of the chin, a microscopic pit hidden in the hair below the ear lobe, and another nestled between the upper part of the cap and the dentils. The marks are not distracting but they offer an easy way to identify this cent. The date and legends are complete and easily readable, and the "single berry left of bow" feature is obvious. A decent example of this very tough die variety. Estimate Value $1,000 - UP

Realized $1,469
