Lot 646

1652 Massachusetts Pine Tree Sixpence Noe-33 R5 PCGS graded AU50. Type with pellets on either side of the tree trunk. Glossy bright silver on the devices thanks to a light cleaning and darker grayish steel in the fields and protected areas. The only notable marks are a small scratch or planchet flaw under the V in the denomination and a nick on the upper part of the E in NEW, and neither mark is visible to the unaided eye. Strongly struck with bold details throughout and just a touch of wear on the highpoints. The obverse is misaligned only slightly to the top, much better than most of this variety, and the reverse is almost perfectly centered on the planchet. The tiny pellets on either side of the tree trunk are clear. A premium example of the denomination. Listed on page 41 in the "Redbook." Estimate Value $5,000 - UP

Realized $6,756
