Lot 645

1652 Massachusetts Pine Tree Sixpence Noe-33 R5 PCGS graded AU53. Type with pellets on either side of the tree trunk. Glossy dark gunmetal blue in the fields and protected areas with lighter grayish silver toning covering the devices. The contrast accents the details and the eye appeal of this piece is excellent. No defects, just a touch of friction on the highpoints from mint state. The strike is even and strong, but the obverse is misaligned to the top, as always on this variety. The tiny pellets on either side of the trunk are clearly visible. A very nice example of this tough denomination. Listed on page 41 in the "Redbook." Estimate Value $5,000 - UP

Realized $5,640
