1652 Massachusetts Pine Tree Shilling Small Planchet Noe-30 R3 NGC graded VF30. A Small Planchet type with MASSACHUSETTS. Glossy medium gray and steel with lighter steel gray toning on the devices. Smooth and free of contact marks but the strike is uneven with obvious weakness at K-12 to K-3 on the obverse and K-9 to K-12 on the reverse. Everything else is nicely impressed. The Pine Tree, date, and denomination are all bold. Struck with the obverse slightly off center to the top and the reverse off a bit to the bottom. Listed on page 41 in the "Redbook."
