Lot 533

1852 N-10 R2+ PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Glossy medium chocolate and steel with traces of slightly lighter toning in protected areas, possibly from an old cleaning. Just a few trivial marks, including a planchet flake under star 10, a faint hairline on the jaw, another on the neck, and a pinprick over the junction between the I & T in UNITED. None of these marks is visible to the unaided eye and this cent offers excellent eye appeal. Scarce EDS, die state a. The die lines from the dentils at stars 1 & 2 are clear and the fields are smooth. The rims are squared in this die state while they are beveled in later states, a minor distinction for the serious specialist. A nice cent that comes with a very nice provenance. Our grade is AU50+, close to AU55. The attribution and Tucker provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 2 finer 1 in 64, 1 in 65 for the variety. Estimate Value $300 - UP
