Lot 52

1805 S-269 R1 Pointed 1 in Date PCGS graded AU53. Beautiful glossy light to medium chocolate brown with frosty lighter brown and tan in protected areas, particularly on the reverse. Satiny luster covers the protected areas and this cent offers outstanding eye appeal. No spots, stains, or roughness, only light friction on the devices and minor contact marks. The notable ones are a thin diagonal nick in the center of the nose and another on the throat. MDS, Breen state IV early. There is a subtle bulge at the dentil tips near the lowest curl and a fine die crack through the bases of the 1 & 8 extending faintly into the field under the curl. Our grade is EF45. Noyes says EF45 net EF40 and tied for CC#15, his photo #60417. A very nice example of the "Pointed 1" variety. The attribution and Koshkarian provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 5 finer for the variety. Estimate Value $4,000 - UP
