Lot 51

1805 S-267 R1 Blunt 1 in Date PCGS graded AU58. Very attractive medium steel brown and chocolate with puffs of slightly darker chocolate brown toning in protected areas on the reverse. Satiny mint frost covers all but the highest points of the devices and the eye appeal of this cent is excellent. Looks mint state but there is a touch of friction on the highpoints. Otherwise this cent is virtually flawless. A pair of microscopic planchet chips hidden in the dentils off the upper edge of the bust tip are the best identifying marks. M-LDS, Breen state III, with faint die clashmarks on both sides and a dull crack through the top of AME. The dentils on both sides are gone. Our grade is AU50+, close to AU55. The attribution and Koshkarian provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 3 finer, 1 in 63, 1 in 64, 1 in 65 for the variety. Estimate Value $6,000 - UP
Ex Doug Bird 1/2005.
