Lot 360

1800 S-205 R4 PCGS graded VF30. The obverse is a slightly glossy mix of medium and darker chocolate brown while the reverse is glossy light to medium chocolate. The field before the portrait is dull from uniform extremely faint granularity and there is a dull dent at the bottom of the first S in STATES. This dent is strong enough to create a small bulge in the field under the hair ribbon. The only other notable defects are a planchet crease or fold in the metal at the dentils over ER in LIBERTY with similar voids at the opposing area at the rim right of the denominator (all as struck). M-LDS, Breen state II. The die crack from the rim to the hair under the ribbon is weak but visible. Our grade is VF25 sharpness net F15. The attribution and Fricke provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 5 finer for the variety. Estimate Value $600 - UP
