Lot 342

1794 S-17a R5- Head and Edge of 1793 G5. A couple points sharper but the planchet is covered with fine vertical striations and there is a chip out of the rim over the M in AMERICA. No verdigris and the only contact mark is an old scratch (possibly a thin planchet fissure) from the forehead to the cheek. Slightly glossy mix of tan and light brown on the devices with darker olive brown in the protected areas. The date and LIBERTY are complete and easily readable, and most of the legend on the reverse is clear as well. The edge lettering is strong. Estimate Value $1,000 - UP
