Lot 34

1800 S-197 R1 PCGS graded AU58. The "Q" variety. Glossy olive brown and steel with traces of faded mint color showing in protected areas on both sides. Underlying mint luster covers the fields and protected areas and this cent offers outstanding eye appeal. LDS, Breen state IV, with a bold die break or internal cud break at IBE, a very rough vertical crack down from the ends of the hair ribbon, and a narrow rim cud over AT in STATES. A beautiful example of the "Q" variety, so-called thanks to the always present crack that slants through the first 0 in the date creating a crude "Q." Our grade is AU50. The attribution and Koshkarian provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 2 finer, 1 in 58+, 1 in 63 for the variety. Estimate Value $7,500 - UP
Ex Stuart Levine, Heritage 10/1995:5670-Chris McCawley FPL #51, 9/1996-Jack Wadlington 6/2005-Bob Grellman & Chris McCawley 7/2005.
