Lot 116

1839 N-8 R1 Type of 1840 PCGS graded MS63 Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous medium steel brown and light chocolate with faint wisps of slightly darker steel brown in the field at the top of the obverse. Satiny mint frost covers this cent and it is flawless except for a small but noticeable punch in the dentils above the O in OF. MDS. The die line from the lower berry right of the E in ONE to the leaf below is gone but the rim cud under the 839 has not formed. Our grade is MS60. The attribution and Koshkarian provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 4 finer, 2 in 64, 1 in 65+, 1 in 66 for the variety (the only die variety for the 1839 Type of 1840). Estimate Value $750 - UP
