1801 S-221 R2 Corrected Denominator 100 over 000 PCGS graded AU58. Choice glossy medium chocolate brown and steel with slightly lighter lustrous steel brown in protected areas. Peeps of golden tan faded down from mint color can be found on the reverse. This cent offers outstanding eye appeal. There is a hint of rub on the highest points of the devices but the eye appeal is certainly suggestive of a mint state cent. The only mark is a fine hairline scratch at ST in STATES, and it is visible only with the aid of a strong glass. MDS, Breen state IV early. There is a narrow rim break at F-A and another from that A to over the center of the M, but the extension to over the entire M has not occurred. The Corrected Fraction feature (100 over 000) is bold. A superior example of this important "Redbook" variety. Not seen by Noyes or Bland. Our grade is AU50+, very close to AU55. Clearly high in the condition census for this variety. The attribution and Reynolds provenance are noted on the PCGS Secure label. Pop 1; none finer at PCGS for the variety . Estimated Value $4,000-UP

Ex George Rogers-Chris Young 7/2006-Tom Reynolds Collection.
