1798 S-179 R2 Small 8, Style II Hair PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Very attractive lustrous medium steel brown and light chocolate with lighter steel brown and golden tan toning faded down from mint color in protected areas on both sides. The only notable marks are a tiny low spot near the dentils under the lowest curl (as struck), two tiny rim nicks right of the date, and a very faint scuff of hairlines at the rim right of the bust. M-LDS, Breen state IV, with obvious swelling in the field left of the lowest curl. Sharply struck showing veins in the leaves of the wreath. Graded MS60 and tied for CC#5 in the Noyes census, his photo #34719. Our grade is MS60. A great cent that comes with a great provenance. The attribution and Reynolds provenance are noted on the PCGS Secure label. Pop 2; 2 finer at PCGS for the variety, 1 in 65, 1 in 65+. Estimated Value $15,000-UP
