Lot 819

1848 N-31 R3 AU55. Choice glossy light to medium chocolate and steel brown. Frosty mint luster covers the fields and protected areas on both sides. Just a hint of friction on the highest points from mint state. The only marks are a couple of barely visible ticks on the throat and a shallow planchet flake near the dentils under star 3. Sharply struck E-MDS die state b, with obvious swelling around the legend outside the wreath. A very nice cent with mint state eye appeal.
Estimated Value $350-UP.
Ex J. R. Grellman 7/1995-R. S. Brown, Jr., McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Superior 6/2/2002:614 (lot ticket included).
