Lot 766

1842 N-7 R3 Large Date AU50. Attractive glossy medium chocolate brown with frosty luster covering much of both sides. Nicely struck for this variety with hair details visible at the top of the ear. A microscopic planchet flake in the center of the neck and a tiny nick under the left foot of the T in CENT are good identifying marks, but you need a glass to see them. LDS, die state b. The die line under the upright of the E in AMERICA is weak and barely visible, and die rust is evident in the fields near the stars. A very nice example of a variety that's difficult to find in top grades.
Estimated Value $300-UP.
