Lot 598

1804 S-266c R2 AG3+. Glossy medium chocolate brown and steel. Smooth surfaces, free of any hint of corrosion or verdigris. There are a few marks, however, including a planchet lamination void in the field off the chin (as struck), a couple far less obvious scratches under the chin, and a dull nick on the chin. Only the lamination catches your eye. The date is easily readable although the bottom is starting to wear into the rim, and parts of UNITED STATES are weak or missing. Everything else is clear. LDS, Breen state IV, with strong cud breaks at RTY and MERIC. A decent low grade 1804 cent.
Estimated Value $750-UP.
From the Norman Wolfe collection.

Realized $940
