Lot 460

1794 S-29 R2+ NGC graded MS63 Brown. Frosty medium brown and chocolate with lustrous lighter steel brown toning in protected areas. Small splashes of reddish brown toning show around the date and an area of darker toning is located near the dentils right of the Y in LIBERTY. Sharply struck and quite attractive with just a light touch of friction on the highest points of the hair. A tiny planchet fissure in the dentils over the I in AMERICA is the only notable mark, and it is a mint-made flaw that is barely visible. MDS, Breen state III, with fine die cracks and die clashmarks on both sides. The die crack from the dentils to the R in AMERICA is quite light and it does not reach the wreath. Graded AU55 net AU50 and CC#6 in the Noyes census, his photo #36855. Our grade is AU50+, close to AU55.
Estimated Value $15,000-UP.
