Lot 2006

1852 Pattern Gold Dollar. Copper-Nickel, Plain Edge. Judd-140. Pollock-167 Low Rarity 7. PCGS graded Proof 66. CAC Approved. Nice light toning. A lovely coin. These pattern pieces were struck around 1859 using a reverse die that shows small pairs of leaves with berries encircling that side. The large central hole of this design didn't leave much room for devices, so a simple date was placed at the base of the obverse with U.S.A. noted above. The toning here has a wonderful antique appearance, and the surface quality is amazing. One of the absolute finest seen of this challenging issue. Pop 1; none finer at PCGS (PCGS # 11589) .
Estimated Value $8,000 - 9,000.
