1861 "Oath of Allegiance" - Washington medal. Baker-279B, Julian-CM-2, Rarity 5. NGC graded MS-62 Brown. Bronze, 31 mm. According to the catalog, these medals were struck at the mint in silver, copper, bronze, aluminum, and yellow bronze after all mint employees had taken an oath of allegiance to the Union after the outbreak of the civil war. A beautiful medal bearing a high relief portrait of Washington. A quite historic pieces and always popular among collectors.
