Lot 379

1803 S-264 R4+ Large Date Small Fraction ANACS graded VF20 Details, Corroded-Damaged-Bent. Sharpness near VF25 but this cent was lost in soil for some time and is covered with fine roughness and green patina. In addition someone intentionally added small punch marks off the dentil tips on half of the obverse, from K-10 clockwise to K-4. A larger dig from the rim to the top of the hair ribbon, a dull dent in the hair at the shoulder, and a couple dull scratches on the bust round out the notable marks. On the other side of the ledger are a few good things: the date is clear and the legends are complete including the Small Fraction. Some of the hair details suggest a grade better than VF25, but there is too much going on here for that to make a difference. MDS. The die crack below STATES is clear but STATES is still complete. Our grade is net G5. The attribution is noted on the ANACS label. Estimate Value $3,000 - UP

Realized $1,763
