Lot 356

1800 S-198 R5+ AG3. Perhaps a point sharper in some areas but covered with fine roughness on all but the highpoints, which are smooth. No verdigris or active corrosion. The date is not strong but all 4 digits are easily readable. Slightly glossy dark steel brown and olive with slightly lighter steel brown toning on the highpoints. Extremely rare terminal die state (TDS), Breen state VI, with a bold cud break at MER. Only 5 examples are known to us with the cud break, and the last one we offered was the Holmes net VG8 example that brought $9200 in our 9/6 2009 auction. An important opportunity for the die state specialist. Estimate Value $500 - UP

Realized $734
