Lot 352

1799 S-189 R2 PCGS Genuine, Good Details, Damage. Rather glossy olive brown with lighter steel brown toning on the devices. The surfaces are not perfectly smooth but the gloss effectively minimizes the microscopic granularity. No verdigris, and the only notable mark is an old diagonal scratch hidden in the patina on the neck. The date is strong with the bottom edge of the digits just starting to fade into the rim below. LIBERTY is faint but most of the legends on the reverse are easily readable. Our grade is G4 sharpness net AG3. A decent low-grade example of this tough date in spite of the microscopic roughness, and the strong date is a big plus. Estimate Value $1,500 - UP
Ex Jerry Wickwire 2000.
