1652 Massachusetts Pine Tree Shilling Noe-16 Rarity-2 NGC graded XF45. A Small Planchet Type. Choice frosty medium grayish steel with slightly lighter silvery steel toning on the devices. The surfaces are smooth and void of defects. The best identifying mark is a bit of dirt inside the S right of the Pine Tree. Although this is a Small Planchet type, the planchet for this example is large enough to comfortably contain all the legends and devices with some room to spare. The legends are complete, strong, and well balanced throughout. A premium example of this early American colonial issue. Come from the famous collection of Eric P. Newman.
