Lot 203

1849 C-1 R2- PCGS graded MS62 Brown. Glossy medium steel brown and chocolate with about 10% of the mint red remaining, mostly on the reverse. The only marks are two small nicks on the bust tip and two small carbon spots hidden at the berries over the right top of the F in HALF. This piece would rate a significantly higher grade but there are a few low spots on the obverse and many more on the reverse, all the result of debris (probably lubricating grease) on the dies. MDS, Manley state 2.0. The obverse fields are covered with very fine vertical die lines from a fresh die polishing. The earlier die lines over NI in UNITED are gone and the reverse is rotated 15 degrees clockwise. Our grade is MS60. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 9 finer, 6 in 64, 3 in 65 for the variety. Estimate Value $300 - UP
