Lot 169

1828 C-3 R1 13 Stars PCGS graded MS65 Brown. Very attractive lustrous medium bluish steel and olive. Satiny mint frost covers this piece and it offers great eye appeal. Nearly flawless in every respect. The best identifying marks are a tiny spot of light reddish brown toning under the F in HALF and a speck of darker reddish olive and steel toning under the left foot of the R in AMERICA. Very early die state (VEDS), Manley state 1.0 early. There is a fine but clearly visible die line between the tip of the leaf under IT in UNITED and the base of that T, and there are no die clashmarks on either side. The repunching on star 7 is sharp. A premium example of a tough die state. Our grade is MS64+, close to MS65. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 1 finer in 66 for the variety. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP
Ex Superior 1/11/2006:586-The Green Tree Collection.
