Lot 16

1794 C-8 R5 PCGS graded F15. Glossy light to medium brown and light olive. Smooth and attractive but there are some light rim bruises on both sides, none distracting but too many to ignore. A rim bruise over ER in LIBERTY and another at ICA can help identify this piece. Otherwise the surfaces are void of any notable marks or traces of roughness. MDS Manley state 2.0 early. The die crack from the dentils to the top of the second T in STATES is light and it does not extend down from the base of that T to the wreath. The date is bold and the legends are clear except for the usual strike weakness on the C in CENT. A nice example of this tough variety in spite of the minor rim bumps, near the lower end of the condition census. Weight 101.9 grains. Our grade is consistent with the PCGS grade. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 3 finer, 2 in 45, 1 in 62 for the variety. Estimate Value $3,000 - UP
Ex Chris McCawley 1/15/2010-The Green Tree Collection.
