Lot 1519

Fr-1800-2. 1929 Type 2, $5 National Bank Note. The Hartsdale National Bank, Hartsdale, NY. Charter #12705. PCGS Choice About New 58PPQ. Only eight notes, all $5s, are reported in the census from this small size-only, one-bank community in Westchester County, including all six notes from the second sheet printed. This is the second note from that sheet, bearing serial number 8. It is fully uncirculated save for a light fold in the bottom left corner, and is otherwise as crisp and fresh as the day it was printed. It comes from one of the most heavily collected counties in the entire country, and it's from a rare one-bank town as well. When last sold in a Heritage/CAA sale in 2004, this piece topped $4300. Expect spirited bidding before one lucky collector takes home this prize. Estimate Value $5,000 - 7,000

Realized $4,700
