Lot 15

1794 C-7 R5+ PCGS graded F15. Glossy light olive and chocolate with some lighter brown toning in protected areas on the reverse. No corrosion or verdigris, only microscopic ticks scattered over both sides. The best identifying marks are a very small nick in the field off the tip of the nose and a tiny puff of darker chocolate toning at the left end of the fraction bar. Neither mark is at all significant and the eye appeal of this piece is excellent, especially for a variety that is very difficult to find without significant surface problems. MDS, Manley state 2.0. The radial die crack from the rim through the right side of the E in UNITED to the wreath is obvious and the reverse is rotated 10-15 degrees CCW. The date is bold and the legends are clear. Weight 101.0 grains. Our grade is F12. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 2 finer, 1 in 20, 1 in 58 for the variety. Estimate Value $5,000 - UP
Ex Heritage 3/25/2010-The Green Tree Collection.
