1814 S-295 R1 Plain 4 PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Lustrous medium chocolate brown and steel with some lighter brown and tan toning around the date. A beautiful cent, satiny and virtually flawless in every respect. The only marks are a barely visible planchet lamination under the bust tip and a light, nearly horizontal nick under the right side of the O in ONE. Terminal die state, Breen state XIV, with a die crack from star 11 through the curl and the 8 to the rim below, plus a clearly defined rim cud break at TA in STATES. In addition there is obvious crumbling from the chin down to the middle of the throat, the so-called "Bearded Goddess" die state. Our grade is AU55+. Noyes says MS60 net AU55 and tied for CC#10, his photo #39356. The attribution and Koshkarian provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
