Lot 68

1814 S-294 R1 Crosslet 4 PCGS graded MS63 Brown, CAC Approved. Beautiful lustrous olive brown and steel with 10% of the obverse and at least 15% of the reverse showing bright mint red. A choice cent, nearly flawless. The only notable marks are two tiny ticks hidden in the myriad fine die lines on the neck and a speck of darker toning (not carbon) inside the bottom of the R in AMERICA. Sharply struck MDS, Breen state II, with die light clashmarks on both sides and a raised ridge at the dentils tips over STATES OF. A wonderful Classic Head Cent, and it has to be very close to an "RB" designation. Our grade is MS63. Noyes says MS62 and tied for CC#4, his photo #59213. The attribution and Koshkarian provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 4; 1 finer in 63+ for the variety. Estimate Value $15,000 - UP
