Lot 198

1849 N-24 R3- PCGS graded MS63 Brown, CAC Approved. Frosty medium brown with slightly darker chocolate brown toning on the right side of the reverse. Satiny mint luster covers the fields and protected areas, and this cent has excellent eye appeal. A tiny nick on the tip of the coronet and a dull pinprick left of the L in LIBERTY can help identify this cent, but neither mark is visible without the aid of a glass. EDS, die state a. The fine die lines over UNITED are sharp. Our grade is EF45+, very close to AU50, and tied for CC#7 in the Grellman census. The attribution and Iskra provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 2 finer, 1 in 64, 1 in 65 for the variety at PCGS. Estimated Value $600-UP

Ex Jerry Wysong 2/25/2001-Phyllis Thompson, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Goldbergs 1/31/2010:655-Fred Iskra Collection (includes the Thompson collection envelope and lot ticket).
