Lot 2010

1871 Pattern Half Dime. Copper, reeded edge. Judd-1060, Pollock-1195, Rarity 7. PCGS graded Proof 65 Red & Brown. CAC Approved. PQ. Lovely red and brown colors. The obverse design is by James B. Longacre, who had passed away in 1869, but apparently this Indian Princess style was employed by William Barber in 1871, and paired with the usual Standard Silver reverse die to create these patterns. The Indian Princess obverse, here seen without stars, is most elegant, and especially so when found the gorgeous toning as noted here. A rarely offered pattern! The marks are on the holder. Pop 1; 3 finer, 1 in 65+, 2 in 66. (PCGS # 71319) .
Estimated Value $4,000 - 5,000.
