Lot 253

1662 Massachusetts Oak Tree Twopence Noe-30 Rarity-4 PCGS XF Details, Damage. Variety with a Small 2 in the date. A mostly sharp example but the planchet is wavy (which is common for these small, thin silver pieces) and the wear is uneven as a result. No notable marks or other defects. Nicely centered and most of the legends are clear, even bold in areas. The date is complete and easily readable although the 2 is relatively weak, and the denomination is strong. Most of the Oak Tree is clear. Our grade is EF40 sharpness net VF25. An acceptable example of this iconic Early American coinage. Weight 10.8 grains. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Listed on page 40 in the "Redbook." Estimate Value $1,500 - UP
