1848 N-17 R1 Repunched Date PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Very attractive lustrous medium steel brown and chocolate with faded mint color covering 20% of the obverse while bright mint color covers at least half of the reverse. No spots, stains, or other notable marks. Essentially flawless with excellent eye appeal. Nicely struck very early die state (VEDS), the very rare die state a, with fine repunching to the left of all 4 digits in the date. The fields are smooth and all the fine die polishing lines are present. A very nice example of a great die state. Our grade is MS63+, CC#1 by a small margin for the variety in the Grellman census. Noyes photo #37633. The attribution and Twin Leaf Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; none finer for the variety. Estimate Value $800 - UP
