No Sparking Hand Painted Gil Elvgrin Licensed Re-Creation by Daniel Vancas. Gil Elvgren (1914-1980) remains one of the most favored and collectible of American pin-up art with his original pieces commanding upwards to $250,000. Daniel Vancas, a well established California artist, illustrator and gallery owner, obtained the licenses to recreate a certain few of Elvgren pieces, frequently those destroyed, lost or simply unavailable. His recreations are quite accomplished in capturing the flirtatious play of Elvgren's command of color. Offered here is an original acrylic and watercolor recreation created in 1998 of a leggy policewoman blowing the whistle on "no sparking" evidently in the 40s slang for kissing. Later it was also slang for smoking marijuana. It works two ways! Executed on 160 pound cotton paper, piece measures 20 x 16" handsomely presented and framed to 24 x 20" in contrasting dark wood frame. This recreation is limited to only one. Estimate Value $1,000 - 1,200
