John Lennon's Signature; Signing For All Four Band Members on Magazine Photo, 1963. John Lennon (1940-1980) English singer and songwriter who co-founded with Paul McCartney The Beatles, arguably the most influential rock band in music history. Lennon revealed a rebellious nature and acerbic wit in his music, writing, drawings, on film and in interviews and this lot is no exception., In 1963, photographer Les Goode took a group photo of the Beatles for an in-house magazine, Alkali News for of all companies, ICE a chemical company. Photo captures Paul McCartney crowning the carnival queen in Northwich, Cheshire. Goode sent the magazine to Barry Leonard, deputy manager of The Beatles to have all four autograph the publication for him. But John Lennon signed it on behalf of all the Beatles, forging the signatures of McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr with the inscription "All the best from the Beatles". This piece's first time at auction is well represented on every search engine. Magazine folded but in excellent condition. Lennon's signature(s) executed in blue fountain pen ink. Also included is the letter from Barry Leonard to Les Goode on NEMS Enterprises Ltd. (Directors B. and C. Epstein) telling Goode he has forwarded the piece and that the Beatles "convey their sincere thanks and kindest regards". A unique rare find from John Lennon, and the Beatles in August of 1963 including their early management. Estimate Value $2,500 - 5,000
