A Pair of Scarce Japanese Edo Period Samurai Armored Foot Stirrups (Abumi). Pair of Antique EDO PERIOD Samurai Armored Foot Stirrups (Abumi), circa. 18th century. Iron construction with sections of wood inserts covered in black lacquer mixed with decorative mother-of-pearl and copper; internals foot rests painted red. All parts are original with heavy oxidation, lacquer flaking, loses but good considering the age. One stirrup has an unidentified paste label. A nice decorative pair of stirrups.
