1797. 9 stars left, 7 right, small letters. B-2, BB-72, Rarity 4. PCGS graded AU-53. Light hint of tone on both sides with the centers bright silver with a few flashes of vibrant blue around the rimson the reverse. There are only three die pairings for 1797, two with the obverse stars arranged 9 by 7--one with Large Letters on the reverse, and this one with Small Letters on the reverse. The other obvese die has the stars arranged 10 by 6 surrounding Liberty. This Small Letters vareity is clearly the rarest of the three, and finding an example this well preserved is quite difficult.
