Lot 86

1827 N-5 R2 PCGS graded MS66 Brown. Highly lustrous bluish steel and light chocolate brown with hints of faded mint color showing through in a few places on both sides. A cent with outstanding eye appeal as evidenced by the lofty grade assigned by PCGS. It would be a flawless gem by EAC standards if not for a splash of dark toning in the dentils just left of the date, a shallow nick on the jaw at the throat, and another hidden in the hair under star 8. Sharply struck EDS with full radial lines in all the stars. The two parallel dashes near the dentils left of the O in OF are clear. Called MS60+ and CC#1 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS63 and tied for CC#2, his photo #20663. Our grade is MS63. The attribution and Naftzger-Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; tied for finest BN of the variety at both services. PCGS #36850. Estimate Value $7,500 - UP
