1822 N-6 R3 PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Lustrous tan and light steel brown with traces of mint red showing on the obverse while 10% of the reverse displays original mint color. A choice cent if not for a carbon spot (might be removable crud rather than carbon) in the field just right of star 4, a smaller spot of dark toning over the N in ONE, and a minor rim bruise over the second T in STATES. EDS with crisp dentils and slightly reflective fields on both sides. Graded MS60 and tied for CC#5 in the Bland census. Noyes says AU55 and tied for CC#8, his photo #31116. Our grade is MS60. Comes with a nice provenance. The attribution and Newcomb-Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; tied for finest MS BN of the variety at both services. PCGS #36727.
